1. Making Jowar Batter:
  • Ingredients:
    You can use a combination of jowar flour, urad dal (black lentils), rice, fenugreek seeds, and water.
  • Preparation:
    Soak the jowar and urad dal (and rice if used) for several hours, then grind them into a paste.
  • Fermentation:

    Combine the batter and allow it to ferment overnight for a fluffier texture. 

2. Using Jowar Batter:
  • Dosa: Add salt to the batter and water (if needed) to achieve a spreading consistency. Pour the batter onto a hot tava and spread it into a circular shape. 
  • Idli: Use the batter directly for steaming idlis. 
  • Other dishes: Jowar batter can also be used for making other dishes like jowar bhakri (a flatbread) or even instant jowar bonda.
